Not perturbed, and not shy to do a good deed!!

From Stars' Talk, Who Magazine

Faced by diminishing returns from his career in the music industry and television series, Beam-Kawee Tanjarak is throwing himself whole-heartedly into his new role as the first Thai ambassador for the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) for Thailand. For the former member of the famous Thai boy band ‘D2B’, this is a dream come true.

Beam has had to face a little more than his fair share of criticism, however. There are those who feel that his work for WWF is only a means to publicizing himself and regaining the limelight. When WhO? put the question to him, Beam looked pensive, then laughed.

“I have been through a lot in the past. I have had everything, fame and money, but I haven’t had a chance to seriously be a part of anything in society. The opportunity has just arrived for me…”
We asked him what message he would like to send out to those who doubt his good intentions. “I’m very proud to reach this point in life as everything will be with me until the day I die…it’s an honor to my family because I’m the first Thai person to become a WWF ambassador. If you look elsewhere, you’ll see that only those known globally are usually appointed WWF ambassadors.”

Beam also addressed the speculations that he was more interested in his image than charitable activities. “If you think positively, then I’d be safe. But if you look at my activities negatively, you’ll only have negative impressions of me. It’s as simple as that. I have tried to do good deeds for everybody; I believe it’s better if we all help each other…”
It was clear Beam had something to say. “…It’s not only me who has been attacked on this matter, a lot of famous people around the world have been criticized for supposedly faking concern. But ultimately, if people look at all such charitable activities by stars negatively, then no one will be willing to do any good deeds in the future, they’ll only think of themselves from day to day!” Beam was smiling, but his eyes were grave.

“Not everyone does good things nowadays, so when someone’s doing it, we should be supportive, shouldn’t we? Everything that I have done successfully in the past, I have done with the help of others. I’m just a coordinator helping in communication and public relations. The rewards of those successes belonged to everyone as well, not just me. If we all join hands in order to succeed, society as a whole will be better off.”
The WWF ambassador was in his element as he told WhO? how everyone can play a part in helping to save the world. He believes we have to live in harmony with the natural world – that there’s no other way. And planting trees is not the only way to go about it.

“We must utilize our natural resources correctly and as efficiently as possible. Family members should stay in one room after coming home and not use more electricity than they need before going to bed. We should also car pool in order to save energy. Fortunately I can talk to people about these things with some confidence because I’ve studied the subject. It would be very shameful indeed if I had no idea what I was talking about.” But he does. Beam smiles again, and we immediately feel inspired to get involved with the grand project of saving our planet. How about you?
